Department of Mathematical Analysis and Optimization was created 30.06.1995 (order number 124 I) simultaneously with the creation of the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of the Sumy State University by reorganizing the Department of Mathematics. The Department is continuing the traditions laid down by the main heads of the Department of Mathematics associate professor Inozemtsev A.H. (06/10/1960 10/09/1969), associate professor Holub A.M. ( 11/09/1969 13/12/1974 ). In the period from 1974 to 1990 Department of Mathematics was headed by renowned scientist engineer, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Filshtinskiy L.A.
Since the founding of the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Optimization Methods , was headed by candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences , Associate Professor Yachmenev V.A.
Since september 2016 the Head of the Department become Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences , Associate Professor Shuda I.A.
The department conducts science, methodological and educational work. Nowadays , the Department has 7 teachers.
Research interests of the department:
- Optimization methods and numerical methods in mechanics of deformable solids;
- Mathematical modeling in modern hydro;
- Scientific methodological research in teaching mathematics in high school.
The department provides exposition of basic courses:
- Mathematical Analysis;
- Algebra and Geometry;
- Higher Mathematics.
